Enabling Developer Tools for Chromebook Debug Logging

Enabling Developer tools in Google Admin

  1. Log into https://admin.google.com using your Google Admin credentials.
  2. Under the Devices menu, navigate to Chrome > Settings.
  3. Select the Users & browsers tab and choose the organizational unit (OU) where the Netsweeper Client Filter extension is located.
  4. On the Users & browsers page, scroll down or use the search bar to locate the Developer tools setting.
  5. Select the Developer tools setting.
  6. Change the Developer tools availability to Always allow use of built-in developer tools, and save the change.

Accessing Developer Tools on the Chromebook

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/ or select the Extensions icon from the toolbar.
  2. Select the Netsweeper Client Filter extension and click the Details button.
  3. In the Inspect Views section, click the service worker link.
  4. Open another browser tab and recreate the issue you are experiencing.
  5. From the Console tab, select all debug information using Ctrl+A, then copy it with Ctrl+C and paste it into a new document or email message.
After obtaining the debug information from the Chromebook, return to the Google Admin and change the Developer tools availability setting back to Never allow.
