Approve the Netsweeper Proxy Certificate
- Open a new Finder window and navigate to Applications > Utilities.
- Open the Keychain Access utility.
- In the left navigation pane, select System.
- At the top of the window, click on Certificates.
- Locate and open the proxy.<instance>.netsweeper.com certificate.
- Click the right arrow (>) next to Trust.
- Select Always Trust to the right of When using this certificate.
- Close the certificate window and click Update Settings.

Confirm the Group that Contains the Filtering Policy
- In the Lenovo Netsweeper WebAdmin dashboard, select Policies from the left navigation menu.
- Under Policies, select Groups.
- Identify the group name that contains the relevant filtering policy (e.g., students@lenovoacademy.edu).
- Make a note of the group name, as you will need it in the next section.
Configure the Netsweeper Client
- Select the Apple menu, then choose System Settings (or System Preferences).
- Click the Netsweeper icon.
- Click Filter Settings.
- In the Netsweeper window, click Filter Settings.
- On the Settings page, locate the Domain/User/Group Settings section.
- In the Group Override field, enter the group name you verified earlier (e.g., students@lenovoacademy.edu).
- Scroll down and click the Save button. Note: If a warning message appears stating that the configuration failed to save, click the Save button again.
- Close the Filter Settings window.
- Close the Netsweeper window.
- Close the System Preferences window.
Test the Configuration
- On the student device, open a web browser (e.g., Safari).
- Search for a word or phrase that you expect to be denied.
- For example, if the Group filtering policy is set to Strict, searching for the word alcohol should display the Netsweeper Deny page.
- If the Deny page is not shown and a search results page appears instead, please contact Support.
Uninstalling Lenovo Filter
- Select the Apple menu, then choose System Preferences.
- Click the Netsweeper icon.
- Select the Filter Settings button.
- Click the Uninstall button.
- Click the OK button.
