Windows Debug Logging Guide

Windows Debug Logging Guide

Follow these steps to enable debug logging for the Netsweeper Client Filter and collect logs:
  1. Open the Windows Control Panel and click on the Netsweeper Client Filter icon.
  2. In the Filter Settings, click the Filter Settings button.
  3. On the Settings tab, under Log Settings > Log Level, select Log Debug.
  4. Save the settings and close the client filter window(s).

  5. Open Services (run as Administrator), locate the NSFX service, and stop it.

  6. Navigate to C:\Users\adminuser\AppData\Local\Netsweeper Client Filter\ using Windows Explorer and delete all files in this folder.

  7. Restart the NSFX Service from the Services window.
  8. Reproduce the issue you are troubleshooting. The logs for this will be saved in the file: C:\Users\adminuser\AppData\Local\Netsweeper Client Filter\ncsf.log.
  9. After collecting the logs, return to Filter Settings and change the Log Level back to Log Disabled to conserve storage, as debug logging can consume significant space.
